Take these Steps to help make the Air in your Home Fresher and Cleaner:

1. Air Cleaning - Use a portable air purifier in the rooms where you spend the most time, such as the bedroom, home office, and the living area (family room, living room, or den). Portable air purifiers help circulate the air in your room, usually several times per hour — helping to reduce stuffy, stale air. Effective air purifiers, like Honeywell Air Purifiers, will eliminate at least 99% of airborne pollutants that pass through their filters, capturing particles such as dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke and mold spores. Some air purifiers are even effective at fighting germs such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
2. Control - if possible, remove or reduce the source of indoor pollutants, especially the harmful ones such as Carbon Monoxide (CO).1 Regular surface cleaning is helpful for removing particles, like dust, that have landed on surfaces such as floors, blinds, drapes, and decorative items. Surface cleaning will help these particles keep from getting "stirred up" and becoming airborne once again. Keep vacuum cleaner canisters cleaned out or replace bags frequently. Pets should be bathed regularly to help keep pet dander at lower levels. Mold found in the home should be removed immediately so that mold spores do not become airborne.
3. Inspect - have your gas or oil company regularly inspect your furnace, gas water heater, range and gas clothes dryer for any leaks. If leaks are present, get them fixed immediately. Insure that carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working properly.
4. Ventilate - if the weather permits, open windows and doors to let fresh air in and allow it to circulate in the room.

1. Note: Air Purifiers do not remove CO poisoning fom the home.
